Research and Innovation Center for Public Health and Health Services Research

The Paracelsus Medical University founded the Center for Public Health and Healthcare Research in May 2018, with the aim of multiprofessional, interdisciplinary and evidence-based management of the complex tasks of the healthcare sector of the future. The center, which focuses on primary care, was founded by the Institute of General, Family and Preventive Medicine (head: Dr. Maria Flamm), the Institute of Nursing Science and Practice (head: Dr. Jürgen Osterbrink) and the Institute of Pharmacy (head: Dr. Johanna Pachmayr) of the Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg. These institutes view the center as a joint multiprofessional and interdisciplinary mission.
The Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) combines strong research performance and unique multiprofessional education of its students with university-wide entrepreneurial sustainability. Our objective is the best possible contribution to the health of people.

Since May 2019, the Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) is offering a master's degree in Public Health at the Salzburg campus. Unique for the German speaking area, this is designed as an online degree program, which can be completed extra-occupational (part time or full time) and combines online / in-class study. The program offers a personalized support and advising system in addition to online learning content that can be completed individually, location-independent and flexibly around the clock. In-class sessions amount to a total of two weeks during the two-year degree program.

The Public Health master's program has a global, interprofessional and research-oriented profile. Unique to German-speaking countries, we regularly offer international lecturers from relevant public health organizations. There also is the opportunity to earn an additional "Certificate in Global Health" from an accredited US state university (Department of Public Health: University of North Florida, FL, USA). With this degree program, we would like to educate scientifically qualified Public Health researchers. Students will be awarded the "Master of Science in Public Health" (MScPH) after successfully completing their studies (four semesters / 120 ECTS / entry possible at any time).
