The purpose of the Department of Public and Unified Health is research and training in the assessment of health needs, in the implementation of evidence-based measures to improve health and to protect the environment, in the utilization of health services in this work and in the evaluation of effectiveness of the interventions. The interdisciplinary and integrated consideration of human, animal and environmental health is an innovative approach that ranks the Department of Public and Unified Health at the forefront of science internationally.
Graduates of the Department will have career opportunities in Public Health Services and Veterinary Services at national and local level, in NGOs active in the care of vulnerable groups of the population, in International and Transnational Organizations (World Health Organization, European Union Services, etc. .) who deal with health and of course in research and education in the Schools of Health Sciences and the corresponding research institutions.
Educational objectives
At the end of their training, graduates of the Department of Public & Unified Health should know:
- the basic mechanisms of health and disease, including the life course approach,
- the methods of epidemiological research and biostatistical analysis applied to the health of populations,
- the social, behavioral, cultural and environmental determinants of health,
- the interactions of human and animal health, including food production, with an emphasis on Holistic Health approaches;
- the organization and administration of health systems, as well as the principles of health economics and evidence-based health policy at local, national and international levels,
- the principles of bioethics that govern Public and Unified Health, as well as health law,
- the necessity and processes of lifelong education in their field of science.
