International School of Public Health (ISPH), Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU), is a national leading institution for public health training, health research, and health policy development and implementation. The ISPH was established in March 2007. The school faculty members include national experts in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health care management, health care financing, health policy and planning, etc.
Alongside with core university faculty, invited lecturers are also involved as faculty members, mainly those who have been educated/ trained in western universities and programs. Most faculty members have joint appointments, i.e. working for the public health institutions as well as international organizations. Professor Levan Baramidze and Chief Specialist - Associate Professor Eka Mirvelashvili are working at theInternationalSchool of Public Health (ISPH).

Master programs are elaborated for all those individuals who wish to embark on a career in public health and to gain a postgraduate degree. It is a two year Masters course (120 ECTS Credits). Master program is an opportunity to gain the public health knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to develop improved health programs and services addressing population health needs. It is suitable for district, regional/national medical/health officers and managers; communicable disease control, reproductive and child health, and other public health program officers, as well as those intending to teach public health or pursue research carrier in public health. Training firmly rooted in on-the- ground realities. Our MPH program, in line with public health education standards, consists of five core
disciplines: epidemiology and biostatistics, social and behavioral aspects of health, health policy and management, environmental health, and applied public health. Each of these disciplines has its unique educational and scientific approach or focus. Core modules of the public health are taught during the first year, whereas the students will conduct their research and study advanced modules during the second year (Master thesis), which will be focused on five coredisciplines:
epidemiology, environmental and professional health, health education, health policy and management and applied public health.and biostatistics, social and behavioral aspects of health, health policy and management, environmental health, and applied public health. After completion of the master program the students will be able to improve health in both specific population groups and the population as a whole through:
The designing, planning, implementation, advising and assessment of health prevention and promotion programs.
The management of health and social services and establishments It is intended to provide students with methods, analytical tools and conceptual knowledge required to understand public health issues. It is based on conveying academic knowledge and basic experience related to public health and on acquiring the necessary skills for the various functions which the students, as future public health professionals, will have to carry out at local, regional, or national level of the system, both in the public and the private sectors.
The School of Public Health, Tbilisi State Medical University has strong partnerships with various universities and schools. Since 2017, the school has been a full member of the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) and takes part in the forums conducted by the aforementioned association.
